I know it has been a long time since I have posted here but I have been very busy with my offline business and my personal business that has taken me away from one of the things I love to do the most. That is posting here. We are planning to take a trip to Mexico soon and we will be visiting some friends we have made there in the past. My wife and kids went down a bit ago but I was not able to go and we are making this trip to help some friends in the construction of their new home.
Now their new home is considerable different that what we might expect to see in the states. It will cost about $3000 in materials which is primarily concrete. It will be a two bedroom house that is designed to be expanded when they put together some more money and have need for more rooms.
This is the norm for the area where we are going it is on the Pacific side of Mexico in a pretty poor area. I think it is interesting to get a grip on what are our needs and what are our wants. These people live much closer to their needs than even what we consider poor here in the states.
That is it for now. I will update you later when I get a chance and when we return from out trip. Wish us luck.
Well I made it through the holidays and we are now on to  another year in the life. It is time for resoulutions and stuff of that nature but I am not really into it except for one thing. I want to go to mexico this year. Come hell or high water I am going. I have made up my mind.
I went into my boss on Tuesday and I told him I was taking my vacaion in November and I am going to set down with a travel agent on next Thursday and make some plans. That gives me a good 10 months to pay on the trip and save for it and plan for it so I can make this happen.
I have got to go some how some way this year. I dont know what the deal is. Maybe I was a mexican in a past life or something like that but I feel this urge to run away from this crazy US life and all the problems it has.
It could be that the dream of living the life I want seems so much easier there and I can relax and have a lifestyle all at the same time.

As you probably know by now it is my dream to move to Mexico and what could be more Mexican than raising chicken and I have started to do some research on the subject and I thought I would pass a little on to my readers. Here is what I have found out so far.
As a poultry raiser, you have to know that from the moment they were lain, eggs must hatch after 21 days of incubation. To evenly apply the heat, mark the eggs with an O on one side and an X on the other side. Do not skip until hatching day comes or else the eggs will get deformed from the inside.
The above-mentioned hint is done by some egg hatchers and poultry owners. Hatching Eggs from Incubators One good thing about incubators is that, in the absence of the mother chicken, they can come in handy. An incubator is an instrument that gives newly born egg a moist and warm state similar to that of the chicken's tummy. Fertile eggs can be at least 75% expected to hatch.
Candling can be done by holding a candle in front of an egg which is typically white-shelled. But if the inside of the egg is clear, the egg is unfertilized. With these slight hints, you can diagnose the end product of an artificially incubated egg and not compromising the outcome of the chicks raised.
I will put up another post when I have more information.

Here we are in Febuary and we are well on our way to Mexico as my girlfriend and I have booked our tickets for our trip in November with the travel agent. We actually bought a package that will pay for everything from our front door. We have a car picking us up that day, to returning us back again 15 days later. It is all being paid for.
We did not go for the fancy trip but we did want it to be complete. So all the details of the days are planned and arranged for. We are staying in a quaint little town about 1/3 the way down the mexican gulf coast in a hotel (two story) that sets right on the ocean and is about 15 miles from the nearest town of any size at all.
Built for exactly what I want, to get away. Â To be in a place where civilization can not touch me except when I want to be touched. I can hardly wait to get to our new place and be able to unwind and think my own thoughts not those put in my head by the media or another person that I find contantly in my life not by my choice but by default.

Chickens can eat almost everything from meat to vegetables. You can give them dog food and they'll peck it with full gusto. You can give them pig food and they’ll eat it without hesitation. Even Clams but you have to see to it that the clam shells are thoroughly crushed into pieces before giving it to them.
There are specific reasons why chickens should not eat certain types of food like chicken. If you were given the opportunity to eat the thigh of your neighbor, would you do it? Well it's not quite the same for a chicken and if disguised it is actually good for them to some degree but the consequences can be outstanding because if given large amounts of chicken meat or parts of the spinal cord and brain, this may lead to the development of encephalopathy.
Apple is another food that you have to be careful with. An apple every two weeks given to 4 birds is fine but if this routine is done every day, you could expect digestive problems. Tomato is another to watch. Given in small quantities, tomatoes can be good but be careful cause if given in excess, they might affect the chicken's droppings.
These are just a few of the foods that aren’t really advisable to give to your chickens and remember if given in large quantities, whatever the food is, will give their digestive system a hard time.

One of the first things you may want to do if you have decided to raise chickens after you have laid your plan all out and you have the eggs in incubation is to start to put your chicken pen together. Here are some basic instructions for building a first pen.
Novice or not, it is still better to start off with the most basic pen – using the wire and post design. Here, the materials that you'll need are the posts, wire, and staples that can be used for fences. You can now put the post inside the hole that you have made, pointed tip first.
Always practice caution and focus on what you’re doing because you might pound your assistant instead of your post. To serve as a gate, let 2 posts stand about 1½ - 2 meters apart. The moment you have firmly put all the posts in place, it's time to put the wire around it. For this to be made possible, carry the wire on one corner then using your regular hammer, pound the fence staples at the end of the wire to the post.
Once the end is tightly secured, unroll the wire going to the next post then staple the wire that touches the post. Start by cutting the board to fit the two ends of the posts.

There are two types of chicks to raise: the ones you practically took care of from the moment they were hatched and the ones that you bought from hatcheries which are already taken care of and just needs further nourishing.
Basing from the two choices, there are also two ways of properly raising the chicks before becoming the perfect chickens. Comfort can be based from your own personal touch and how you hold the chicks. Warmth is taken from the mother or if you plan to separate the chicks on an early stage, an incubator or what others call as a heat lamp is essential.
Usually the incubator is composed of two or three light bulbs depending on the number of chicks that have hatched. Either of the two extremes will contribute severe negative conditions to the chicks. Have the drinking station of your chicks always cleaned. Aside from that, the proper way of refreshing your chicks is to give them boiled water.
Chicks are a little particular with their food. Some who are fond of feeding anything to their chicks have this intuition to feed them bread. Chicks grow quickly.

This will be very helpful to get your way through raising your own chickens. If you noticed that the babies arrived in poor condition, you could let the postal employee inspect the shipment again. After the first five weeks, the poultry will no longer require the heat supplemented.
You have to keep in mind that there should be enough space where the chicks can move so that they can move freely either to or from the source of heat. If you are already convinced and with the comfortable situation, you can now breath easily with raising your chickens in your backyard.
Raising chickens should not be a fuss. There are actually several reasons why people want to cultivate chickens in their backyard. Fishes, in general, can be eaten, but who would want to eat Goldie? Well, chickens, on the other hand, have lots of benefits. One of the many benefits chickens give is their egg. You can eat fresh eggs right from the source.
Either raw (good for pregnant women) or cooked, eggs taken from chickens minutes or hours ago are more tasty and nutritious than those purchased in the grocery store. Chickens love to freely walk around. Chickens also love to peck on anything they see that can be considered as food. If you let your chickens roam around your space, you’ll find out how reliable they can be.
Unlike dogs that need combing and brushing everyday to keep their fur alive and shiny, chickens doesn’t need such soulful treatment. Aside from just gathering, you can also start a small business of your own by supplying poultry stores with fresh eggs or chicken meat. Now you can save on mowing your own lawn by getting yourself chickens! For chickens, grasses, weeds, and leaves are treats.
Chickens will clip it then clean it all at the same time. No offense but they can’t even water the plants nor lay eggs for breakfast. In cases of chickens, you can have a best friend, a lawn mower, a supplier of organic fertilizer and an egg producer all in one.

When I decided to start this blog I wanted to focus it on something in peticular. You see I had a blog here before but it was not what I wanted it to be and i ended up deleting it because... we there wwere many reasons. Part was my exwife who kept bugging me about taking it down and partly because there were some things posted there that just didnt really need to be posted anymore.
So I ended up decideing to focus on Mexico. Mexico is my one true love and I hope to be able to retire some day and live out my days there enjoying the culture and the slower pace of life that still can be found in parts of the rural country.
The cost of living there seems to be good if you have income at all but if you need a job, forget it. that is why so many mexicans want to be here. They can make enough money here working a low paying job to support their whole extended family and still pay their bills in the US.
Unlike those of us the grew up in the US they know how to be conserrvative. They know how to curb their desires and make their money last.
Well that is all for this first post we will talk more about mexico as we go. Welcome to my blog.

Its almost christmas now and all I can think about is spending christmas in Mexico but I dont think it is going to happen this year. I have spent all the extra money on the grandkids and if I were to go now I would want to take my new girlfriend but it would just be too much even if we shared the cost.
We would have to make it after the holiday as I could no way not be here for christmas day with the gkids. You know grandpa has to make a big day out of the day for them.
If we were to go I think we would pick a out of the way place on the gulf side we could just escape and see how slow we could make our life. I mean really slow it down and make it go in slow motion.
Get up late in the morning and lounge around and drink coffee and watch the surf until maybe 11 then take a shower and by 1 we might be ready to eat lunch. By the time that was done we could take a little nap and when got up it would be intime to find some dinner and then have a few drinks and before you know it the sun would be setting and it would be time to think about bed. Ahh the life of a relaxed gringo. Thats what I call heaven
